Issues with Bank of America's Automatic Payments

Hi guys…,

I wanted to share my experience with Bank of America’s automatic payment system. I paid my balance in full, but they still took out money for a payment, leaving me with a credit balance. I had to call them to request a refund and to close my account.

I’ve seen others on this board mention similar issues, and I totally agree. It feels like BofA is trying to deceive customers with their automatic payments. I’m done with them…I’m closing my account and walking away! Has anyone else faced this kind of problem? What did you do?

If it weren’t for the great rewards from the Preferred Rewards program, I wouldn’t stay with them. It’s worth my time to pay my credit card balances manually each month…I don’t even use their autopay or bill pay.

I have five credit cards with them, and I set them all to the same due date, so it’s easy to remember when to pay.

If you don’t have the Preferred Rewards, there are many better options out there.

Yeahhh, BofA you want to set it up, then never touch it manually.

It sounds like you have a solid system in place! Setting alerts for due dates and paying manually can definitely help avoid any issues. I understand your frustration with BOA not showing updated balances after returns; it can be annoying compared to how AmEx and Chase handle it. Your approach keeps you in control…

BOA is dog shit. same with wells.

It sounds like the BOA online system is really limiting when it comes to managing payments. Having to schedule each individual payment can be a hassle, especially when you just want a straightforward solution for a balance transfer. It’s good that you can still take advantage of their balance transfer offers, but it’s frustrating that the rest of the services don’t meet your needs.

They do it on purpose. Look up how much money they make from late fees etc. No rush for them to lose money by fixing their systems.

It sounds like you’re really fed up with them…Getting 2% at wholesale clubs and 3% for online shopping is decent, but if that’s all they offer, it can be pretty limiting. It’s frustrating when a bank doesn’t meet your expectations outside of a few perks.
