I have been stuck around this credit score for a while. I have two Amex cards and a Discover card, all of which I use while keeping my utilization below 30%. I have had two of these cards for over a year, and I recently got the second Amex. I have no late payments, but my score won’t go above 720. I am aiming for a score in the 800 range. What can I do to achieve that?
Two things:
Credit issuers do not use the scores you acquire from Credit Karma or other websites. Look at your FICO score.
Second, if you’ve applied in many places, all of those queries are turning away credit issuers.
Credit length is important. Just wait as there isn’t much for you to do. 1 year is nothing in terms of length. Many financial institutions see 10-25 years as great or excellent credit length.
Hello, Zack. Your credit score will naturally increase as your credit profile ages. To improve your score in the short term, first and foremost, avoid applying for credit. Then keep credit card balances low. Try to have only one credit card that reports a balance, and keep it as close to zero as possible. Do not allow all credit cards to reflect 0 balances because this implies that you are not utilizing credit and consequently lowers your score.
