Alaska Airlines Teases Premium Card Summer 2025

Interesting, thank you for the share! I wonder if this card leads the way to a new PC pathway for the current BofA Alaska Visa Signature…

It does, the terms say you can’t get the bonus for 'upgrading from an existing Alaskan airlines consumer credit card’ so that implies the ability to upgrade is possible.

Waived award ticket fees is also interesting. I’m guessing it’s probably something more restrictive (like maybe just their own reward flights), but the off chance this applies to partners would be huge if they cover things like British Airways’s massive fees.

Is the issuing bank going to BofA? Safe to assume right?

Looks like it is based on the footnotes. It mentions Bank of America.

Visa Infinite, we’re thinking?

Super interesting card and I’m curious to see how the elite-qualifying miles earn rates change. I also wonder if it’ll earn the 3x miles on rent currently gained by the Alaska Visa Signature via Bilt. As a current Alaska MVP Gold I’m also intrigued by the Global Companion Certificate and lounge passes. The limited access to Alaska lounges and flexibility of the existing companion certificate make them among the best in the business.

https://www.reddit.com/r/AlaskaAirlines/s/JBhINWIUI3 Seems like Alaska is making aggressive moves to be a top player in the global airline space, but they really need better redemption options to be released to them. Partner saver awards are basically impossible to find outside of economy. Fifteen new widebody routes from SEA on HA metal is a phenomenal start.

It doesn’t say anything about being an existing card holder or anything about the future of the existing Alaska card. I wonder how that’s all gonna work out.

Made from the metal of door plugs if I’ve heard correctly.

lol.

For someone who doesn’t currently have the BofA Alaska CC, but is interested in working towards getting sign-up bonuses on both that and the new card, any pro tips?

For example, apply for existing card now, hold it for 13 months, cancel it, wait a bit, and then apply for premium card? Or is it easier to go in the opposite direction with BofA (premium card first, then cancel that, then get the existing $99 annual card)?

Don’t mind doing the homework myself if anyone can push me in the right direction. TY! :pray:

@Zyan
How would we know? This card was just announced.

Potentially based on other co-branded BofA cards where there’s more than 1 tier of card.

They don’t have any co-branded cards with tiers.

@Shawn
:+1: thanks.

Almost certainly won’t. This just seems like typical verbiage for earning Alaska miles for oneworld/partner spend.

If this has Priority Pass I might abandon my plans to get the CSR for this.

I would imagine maybe a few Alaska lounge passes that becomes unlimited after x amount of spend would be more likely.

Thanks for the heads-up! I would have missed this. When I piggyback it by acquiring the Hawaiian Barclays card with a few months to spare, I’ll be all set for round-trip code-share AA MCO-FRA in lie-flat!
