Wow Credit One really leaves me speechless

(THIS IS A RANT FAIR WARNING)

I was talking to a supervisor about a payment plan after getting transferred 4 times. Honestly, I doubt they have real supervisors, it feels like I’m just getting passed around to different reps. They told me I had to reach out to a third party to set up a payment plan. Oh great. The supervisor kept switching what he was saying. One moment he said one thing, the next moment it was something else. I told him I was recording the call and he got really upset. He said I couldn’t record and that he’d hang up if I didn’t stop. I told him it was legal for me to record, and he just said thanks for calling Credit One and hung up. If that is not a sign of being shady, I don’t know what is. Once I finish up my business with them, I’m done for good. This is just unbelievable.

This is one of the endless reasons why many people on this forum dislike Credit One.

Credit One is often named among the worst companies in the credit card industry. It’s really tough to find anyone saying anything nice about them. I’m sorry you had to learn this the hard way, but hopefully, your story will help others steer clear of them.

Getting a Credit One account is basically asking for trouble in this forum

My wife canceled her Credit One card after I discovered she was paying $8.25 a month just to keep it. It’s unfortunate to lose a 16-year-old account, but I’m glad she got rid of that card.

@Axel
That won’t disappear from her report for another 10 years. By then, all her other accounts will age as well. It’s unlikely to hurt her credit too much.

The account won’t be removed from her reports for another decade.

Credit One is really a joke! Just stay away from them!

And that wraps up this week’s discussion about how Credit One is a scam. More updates to come.

Honestly, Credit One gave me $1500 in credit when no one else would. It really helped me get back on my feet.

That’s the sad truth about Credit One. They take advantage of customers who have no other options and set up outrageous terms. Yes, people need a way to rebuild their credit, but this just keeps them in a tough spot.

I’m really glad I closed my Credit One account once I heard from others that it’s a predatory company.

Good for you!

I would pick Debit over Credit One any day.

I got an offer from them recently. I looked at the terms and thought, ‘Wow this really seems like a scam’.

They even charge you for increasing your credit limit. They charged me for mistakenly adding an authorized user I never approved and didn’t take off the charge. Plus the late fees and interest rates are just crazy.
