What Should I Do After Genesis FS Hits My Credit?

I have a Wayfair credit account managed by Genesis FS. After moving, they froze my account for “fraud protection” and told me I needed to mail in my ID to unfreeze it. Since I’m busy with school and work, I didn’t want to deal with that, but my account was on autopay.

A few months later, my bank account was compromised, and I had to change my debit and account number. I forgot about the Wayfair account, so the autopay didn’t go through. I didn’t get any emails or calls about this, and now I see a 30-day late payment on my credit report.

I called them, and they said they’d request to reverse the late payment. I also disputed it, but they said it was accurate. What should I do now?

Hi,
If Genesis FS hits your credit, review your credit report for accuracy, address any errors, and contact Genesis FS for clarification. Consider paying off the debt or negotiating a settlement.

Goodwill letters. It sounds like they’re open to doing goodwill adjustments, so if they don’t do what they said verbally just start sending them GW letters.

As a courtesy to their customers, it would be their responsibility to remove the 30-day late. With all this new information, can you at least still pay them going forward?
