What are some real uses for the Chase DoorDash $10 per month promo

This promo doesn’t cover restaurants, so I’m trying to figure out what I can actually use it for.

What do you folks use it for?

I use it for pickup at 7/11

Honestly, it’s not great. The $10 feels more like $7 to $8 with all the DoorDash fees. I don’t use it. My pickup choices that aren’t restaurants are usually gas stations or some mediocre prepared food from grocery stores.

Sure, I could grab some low-quality snacks or ice cream at 7-Eleven, but my time is worth more. It’s better to just buy in bulk at Costco and skip the hassle. Using a $10 credit to get $7 worth of stuff that costs $4 at Costco? No thanks. If you already stop by 7-Eleven frequently and enjoy junk food, then it’s a freebie each month. Otherwise, it’s pretty disappointing.

At least it’s better than the $7 monthly Dunkin’ credit Amex offers, lol.

I use the credits at 7-Eleven for distilled water, which is helpful for my humidifier.

How much does that cost at 7-Eleven? For comparison, Smart & Final is about $1.40 per gallon after the CRV.

@MegWhitgal
What’s CRV?

The grocery store near me charges $2 for a gallon of distilled water, while 7-Eleven has it for $2.60 in-store, and the app shows it at $3. With my $25 credit, I can get 8 gallons (5 on one trip and 3 on another) for free, so I save $16 a month.

That stings, LOL. I don’t use the Amex Grubhub credit either for the same reasons as Chase’s DoorDash.

I have a $25 DoorDash gift card that I got for free, and I still can’t bring myself to spend it on the junk they offer.

@Atlas
I just save the credits as a gift card and when I travel to Dunkin’ areas, I treat myself to coffee. Or you can grab ice cream at Baskin Robbins with the Dunkin’ credit.

That’s the way! I already have $49 saved from the monthly credits. It’s nice to have for a rainy day.

Dunkin’ credit resets every month. How do you stack it? Do you mean buying a Dunkin’ gift card with the $7 credit?

@DanaCreditGuide
7-Eleven is on my route home, so I pick up household items like vinegar, dish soap, and detergent. The markup is high, but a free $10 is a free $10. If I had to travel 15 miles, it wouldn’t be worth it.

@DanaCreditGuide
Exactly, it’s frustrating like the online grocery options for the preferred card.

@DanaCreditGuide
I totally agree :frowning:

I get beer.

I’m not paying for delivery, and the only store around that qualifies and has pickup is a liquor store. I have two Chase cards, so that’s 4 six-packs and a few cans each month.

When I travel, I occasionally do 7-Eleven or DashMart, but I generally just end up with overpriced snacks.

@Darian
The local liquor store marked up the prices by 30% for some hard seltzers. I managed to get a small bottle of cordial for cocktails that wasn’t much more than at Total Wine.

I picked up two gallons of water from 7-Eleven recently. It would have been cheaper at Target, so my final credit was more like $3.50 instead of $8.

Another example is I could have bought a 12-pack of Coke for $12 at 7-Eleven, while it costs $8 elsewhere, so the net credit would be around $4.30.

I used the credit this month for the first time. I ordered some wine from Aldi. I usually don’t shop there, but the markup seemed the lowest compared to other stores.

I struggled to find stores with pickup and had to resort to delivery. So, more than half of the credit went to the driver’s tip.

I’m following this post hopeing to find better ways to use the credit.

If you have a handy DashMart location, I recommend it. Last month, I got 4 family-size (18 oz.) Cheerios boxes and a box of brownies for just $0.28. I always check their markdowns and usually find items I would buy anyway. In the past, I’ve bought condiments like ketchup and Chick-fil-A sauce.

@Juno
About two months ago, I paid $8 for a dozen organic eggs—same price as Safeway.

I’ve started using it recently. I’m in Texas, and I go to a Buc-ee’s near my work. I treat myself to a brisket sandwich.
