Approval Journey:
Applied on 11/8 and, as expected, got the dreaded 7-10 day message. Called the automated line on 11/11 – in progress status. Called again on 11/12 and… denied. Spoke to a rep who escalated it to a “senior underwriter” for reconsideration. Today (11/14), got an email with an approval!

Details:
No stated credit limit in the email.
No prior relationship with US Bank.

I just got mine from applying/approved on Sunday. I wanted the cool folio it’s supposed to come in. Mine came haphazardly thrown together in a UPS envelope.

I applied on Sunday as well and got the same disappointing package today. It was a huge let down compared to what others have received. They couldn’t even stick the card on the paper straight, and it looked like their printer wasn’t working properly. I’ve had debit cards that have been shipped with more care. Maybe they ran out of new cardmember materials since the USBAR has been discontinued.

@Thayer
Yeah, sounds pretty much identical to mine. It probably would’ve ended up in the trash anyways, but this is my first ‘premium’ card, so I wanted a premium experience.

Same here. Just got mine today and the sheet with the card was not in the envelope; just in a UPS envelope. Pretty crummy but whatevs—I got lucky and got approved before it went away.

How did you get it escalated to a senior underwriter? I tried calling 2x and got straight denials right away.

I had a whole thing I was planning to say, but they pushed it down to that department right away. It really just comes down to who you get on the phone.

@BettyClark
Lucky. I just didn’t have the patience to try waiting on hold for another 15-20 minutes at 6 in the morning for another shot at an underwriter :joy:.

Same.

Same and they were actually incredibly rude about it. Probably two of the nastiest people I’ve ever talked to, but I just stayed pleasant. They seemed annoyed just by my asking for an update on the status.

@Hayes
Probably tired of us trying to get favorable outcomes for once :pensive:.

In the same boat. Applied, 7-10 days notice, denied, approved after manual review. Got the recon line to add notes to the application. Glad I pulled the trigger when the rumors surfaced. I was team points for years but am fed up with stealth devaluations. Plan is to use CB to buy points from whatever scheme offers the best redemption when I need it. Anyone else following this strategy?

@MysteryMaverick
What were your stats? I applied Nov 4th, got denied, was told to wait for the letter, got the letter, put in for recon on Tuesday, still nothing.

I honestly think they’ll bring it back in a few months.
