US Bank Altitude Reserve Update

I applied today for the USBAR.

I’m in a tough spot, but I really wanted to try for it, especially since I want to keep things simple and have a lot of spending coming up in the next few months. So it makes sense to go for the bonus.

Credit score: Transunion (pulled) 700, Experian 726

Age of oldest account: 1 year 4 months

Average age of accounts: about 9 months

Credit cards:

BofA Customized Cash Rewards 05/23 CL $2,000

Amex BCP 04/24 CL $25,000

Bilt 07/24 CL $1,500

Reported income: $160,000

I got the standard reply of 7-10 business days. I’ll call the recon line tomorrow if I don’t receive an email by the end of today.

Edit:

I got a call back from US Bank to confirm my address, and they said I’m good to go.

I’ll be honest with you; it might take a miracle to get the USBAR. Your history is pretty new.

EDIT: Guess it’s a Christmas miracle.

I know it’s a long shot, but I wanted to give it a try.

I got approved for a $20,000 limit with less than a year of credit history at US Bank.

@Kellen
For the USBAR? With no prior relationship with US Bank? That’s hard to believe.

You probably won’t hear back today. I don’t think US Bank reviews applications on weekends. I’d wait a few days.

They actually called me just now to verify my address and said they’ll send the card once I confirm the documents.

@philip
That’s great! Just a heads up, the document verification can take a while. It took me 4 weeks to get through the process.

Oh no! I really hope they process it quickly. I have travel planned for December.

@philip
You’ll need to fax the documents. If you visit a US Bank branch, they can send your documents internally.

What number do I fax it to?

@Fynn
You’re right, thanks! I really appreciate it.

@philip
How much credit limit did you get?

@philip
That’s incredible! Congrats.

Thanks! I’m really excited.

I had 4 years of credit history when I applied for their Cash+ card and was denied until I called their recon team. Even then, they started me off with their lowest limit. It wasn’t until I opened an account with them that I had better luck with applications. They’re considered a relationship bank and look at whether you have a prior account with them.

That’s simply amazing.

I got denied by recon when I applied for the Altitude Connect about 2 weeks ago. Here’s my data point:

700 Transunion (only one pulled)
Age of credit: 1 year 1 month
Average age: 9 months
Cards: Chase Freedom Rise (Aug 2023) (5% utilization)
Capital One SavorOne Student (Dec 2023) (10% utilization)
Chase Freedom Flex (April 2024) (55% utilization)
Income: ~$32,000
Student loans: ~1 year old

Reason given both times I called back for recon: they need an age of at least 2 years for approval. I’d guess they have stricter requirements for the Reserve than for the Connect.

@Shaye
The bank just didn’t like your profile. Don’t overthink it. The original poster has a high income.

Did you apply on a Sunday?
