This newbie was rejected for the Chase Freedom, now what

I chose to apply for the Chase Freedom card after holding my first credit union-issued credit card for around eight months, but I was turned down because I had “not enough accounts opened long enough to establish a credit history.” I recently utilized the government’s free credit report website and noticed something strange: I had at least one bureau’s credit score of 716.

Is there anything I can do to help? Recon? Or should I just give it some time and try again later?

It wouldn’t hurt to attempt recon.

You don’t have much history. The majority of those present have active reports spanning five, ten, or thirty years.

For the first year or two, it can be difficult to obtain anything other than a protected card.

I called recon and spoke with the person, who seemed to want to give me the card but was unable to do so. It was a nice interaction. Oh well, I guess it’s excellent practice.
