Suggestions on good starter credit cards

I’m a college student looking to build my credit, but I’m not sure where to start. I don’t plan to use the card for big purchases, just everyday expenses like groceries and gas. What’s the best credit card for a beginner? Also, is there anything else I should know as I start my credit journey?

Just so you know, Chase prefers to see at least a year’s worth of personal credit history and/or an active banking relationship from anyone who has recommended or is now suggesting the Chase Freedom Flex or Freedom Unlimited.

There is a good likelihood that the OP will be denied if they lack any of those. The Freedom Rise is the only Chase credit card that you can suggest to someone who has no credit history at all.

OP, please edit your post using the template and remember to complete the monthly expenses so that others can offer suggestions. For most college students, the Capital One SavorOne for students is an excellent option.
