Yeah, you need to cancel through the Southwest app and select ‘hold for future credit.’
You can’t do that. The credit goes directly to the travel portal.

I book through Concur, and this always works when the fare is ‘Wanna Get Away,’ since it’s not refundable.

Same here, I do this all the time with Amex Travel Portal bookings to get my annual credits.
@Kingsley
Wait, are you able to get the credit held by Southwest or Amex? Mine always goes to Amex. Am I missing something?

Check my earlier comment. I said to cancel through the Southwest app.

This is great, I could use my unused $300 credit, book a Southwest flight, and then cancel it for a credit that never expires.
You think that’s possible? I might try that out.
I couldn’t find Southwest on the travel portal. Is it live?

Yeah, it’s live! I just saw it on my portal. I have the Capital One Venture Rewards card, and it shows Southwest flights.

I have the Capital One Venture Rewards card for my business. Maybe it’s only live for Venture Rewards or business Venture Rewards cards? Or certain routes? I’m not sure. Maybe they’re rolling it out slowly. Which card do you have?
@Wellington
I have the Venture X and I searched the same route (not sure about the date you used), but I didn’t see Southwest on my portal.
Nice, that makes it easier to use the $300 annual travel credit on the Venture X.
Dang. Where was this last week when I bought tickets?
Nice!
I have both S1 and Venture X but still can’t find Southwest. I only see Frontier and Spirit.

Do you have a personal or business Venture X card?

Personal. I also switched to S1 and searched again—still nothing. Southwest has round trips between my city and LGA, so not sure why it’s not showing up.
Is Southwest just available through the portal, or are they a transfer partner now? I don’t fly them much because I don’t like the boarding process, but I use them when my kids fly alone.
