Southwest flights now showing on Capital One travel site

I’ve got a Capital One Venture card and just found out Southwest Airlines is available to book now. Awesome news!

Looks like they’re everywhere now.

Yeah, I saw them on Chase and BofA’s portals too. Must be a recent policy change.

The big fund that bought them probably wants to get more exposure and make money.

If you book through the portal instead of direct, can you change flights as easily? I usually rebook on the SW site when the price drops, and they give me a credit. Can you still do that when booking through a portal?

@Beryl
I prefer booking direct, but I think it depends on the type of ticket.

I guess it could still work, just not as smoothly.

@Beryl
Capital One usually does that for you if there’s a price drop. Not sure about flight changes though.

I have the Venture X card and can’t find any Southwest flights.

Same here.

I did a quick search for SFO to Long Beach and found lots of Southwest options. Here’s a screenshot: Imgur: The magic of the Internet

By the way, I have the regular Venture card, not the Venture X.

I might think about getting the Venture X now.

I’ve got the regular Capital One Venture card. It’s 2x miles on everything, no limits.

This is great, I could use my unused $300 credit, book a Southwest flight, and then cancel it for a credit that never expires.

Why even have the card if you can’t find a way to use the credit in a year?

@Sophia2
I thought booking a rental car, hotel, or flight would trigger the credit automatically?

Not quite. If the credit is available, it shows up as one of the payment options along with cash and points.

This might make me switch from Quicksilver to VentureX!

When you cancel a Southwest flight booked through a travel portal, the money goes to the portal, and you have to contact them to rebook. If you don’t use the full amount, you lose the rest.

This is how it works on Amex’s travel portal.

@Finlo
Yeah, you need to cancel through the Southwest app and select ‘hold for future credit.’
