Looking to Add a Third Card to Pair with My BILT Card (25 y/o)

Hello folks,

I’m 25 and have been thinking about getting a third credit card to cover more spend categories. My BILT card does a decent job for travel and dining, but I feel like I could do better than my Discover for other categories like gas and groceries.

What card recommendations do you have that would complement my BILT card? Any insights on maximizing rewards for those categories would be greatly appreciated… :blush:TIA

AmEx Blue Cash Preferred. 6% back on groceries, 3% on gas.

Chase Freedom Flex. Use the signup link through Doctor of Credit and you may get 10% on groceries for the first year.

At 25, I found that adding a third credit card to cover specific spending categories can be a smart move. Since your BILT card already covers travel and dining well, consider a card that excels in gas and groceries. For gas, the Chase Freedom Flex or the American Express Blue Cash Preferred can offer solid rewards. For groceries, the Blue Cash Preferred also shines with 6% cash back on supermarket purchases. Combining these with your BILT card can optimize your rewards across different spending areas. Be sure to review the annual fees and benefits to ensure they align with your spending habits.

When I was in your shoes, trying to maximize rewards across different spending categories, I found that adding a card specifically for those categories can be a great move. For gas and groceries, I opted for cards like the Chase Freedom Flex or the Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express. The Chase Freedom Flex offers 5% cash back on rotating categories that often include gas, while the Blue Cash Preferred® gives 6% cash back at supermarkets. This strategy helped me earn more rewards on everyday expenses and complemented my travel-focused BILT card nicely. It’s always a good idea to review the current offers and benefits to find the best fit for your spending habits.
