Kroger World Elite MasterCard Experience

I just applied for Kroger’s US bank credit card to get 5% cash back on wallet apps. I found out they also provide unlimited next day grocery delivery for free (usually $59 a year) as long as you have the card. The only drawback is that you’re limited to certain stores: Bakers, City Market, Dillons, Fred Meyer, Fry’s, Gerbes, JayC, King Soopers, Kroger, Mariano’s, Metro Market, Pay-Less, PickNSave, QFC, Ralphs, and Smith’s.

I can’t recall seeing any of these in the Bay Area. For those of you who have shopped at these stores, which one do you think is the best in terms of coverage and prices

All those stores are part of Kroger, just different names used in different parts of the country

Got it Do you know which one has the most coverage I figure it should be Kroger itself

@Torin
They are all the same company with the same supplies Everything is identical just different signs

For instance, there was a store near me named Copps That changed to Pick n Save and then to Metro Market Just a name change, nothing else really changed When I shop there, my receipt comes from Metro Market while my credit card shows I bought from Copps It’s funny how they mix names for bags too sometimes I get all three named bags at different times

This way, they maintain a large market presence using various names under one corporate umbrella Once they merge with Albertsons, all those Albertson stores like Safeway and Vons will be included too

In short, we think we have choices but all stores are quite similar

@TomHarris
We really need to break up this monopoly

@TomHarris
That’s a classic Wisconsin thing you just shared haha miss Copps

Are you sure the offer for unlimited next day free grocery delivery lasts forever That’s what Kroger calls Boost It’s their version of Walmart+ but each store under Kroger has its own name

I thought you only get a year of it

@Layne
I couldn’t find anything saying it’s for only a year It says: Enjoy a free extension worth $59 Your membership will keep renewing yearly at no cost (up to $59) as long as you are a Kroger Family of Companies Rewards World Elite Mastercard Cardholder Monthly Boost members will get converted to an annual membership with this offer

@Torin
You’re right It has changed now It used to only provide the first year free but now it’s ongoing

@Layne
I thought it was just for one year too But after I received the documents it suggested that you have free Boost membership as long as you keep the card I’m confused now

The website says new credit cardmembers get the offer If you sign up and give payment details, you can activate free Next-Day Boost membership If you opt for the $99/year Same-Day membership, you can get a $59 waiver Once you cancel the Kroger card, you will have to pay for the annual membership unless you cancel it before your membership period ends

As far as I recall, this membership is $59 for annual Next-Day or $99 for Same-Day but the fees can change You can cancel at any time on your membership page If you cancel, you get to keep your current Boost benefits until your membership period ends Only one free Boost membership allowed per household The offer can’t be used for paying current Boost memberships

This line caught my attention

If you cancel the Kroger card, you will be charged for the annual membership unless you cancel before your period ends

If the membership only lasts a year, this line doesn’t make sense since you’d be paying the $59 after your first year even if you didn’t cancel the card

@Vero
It does seem clear that it remains as long as you hold the card I think their idea is to sign up as many people as possible then raise the fees later

Yeah it won’t be of much use to me since my personal care assistant does my shopping I don’t think I can use my UHC Ucard benefit for groceries on their site but it’s nice to have it just in case we can’t drive there

@Layne
I just checked the offer page and it’s straightforward

Current Boost Member?

Enjoy a free extension of $59 Your membership will continue to renew at no cost (up to $59) as long as you keep your Kroger Family of Companies Rewards World Elite Mastercard Cardholder Monthly Boost members will switch to an annual membership with this offer

@Vero
That’s good I’ve never used it because I don’t see the point in paying extra for groceries but it would help a lot for those who do It might be worth it to activate my freebie just to see if I can collect bonus fuel points

@Layne
Kroger doesn’t let its delivery drivers accept tips

With Kroger Delivery, your smile is our payment No tipping is allowed Third-party deliveries like Instacart can accept tips Their drivers are paid a set amount per delivery from those partners but all tips go directly to the driver If you want, you can give your third-party driver a tip after delivery

https://www.kroger.com/hc/help/faqs/ways-to-shop/delivery

Here’s a map showing Kroger’s different store brands

Just to clarify, delivery comes from your local store like InstantCart but with drivers employed by the store

Edit: The setup seems to change by region Many areas appear to use InstantCart for Boost delivery

So, you don’t really have options Your area either has or doesn’t have a Kroger store that delivers to you

In the Bay Area, the Kroger store is FoodsCo if you want to explore your choices

@Fitz
I see FoodsCo isn’t one of the options I signed up for the regular Kroger just in case I move to a place that has it

I once checked their website which has a function to find your nearest Kroger family stores It looks like the only one in California is Ralphs if I remember correctly Pretty well-known in SoCal But nothing in the Bay Area

However, you still get 5% back at all their family of stores so it doesn’t matter if you use a Kroger card at Ralphs or the other way around

@Josie
The 5% cash back applies when using a wallet through NFC like your phone or watch It works for any purchase you make
