I was thinking the Venture X but the terms and conditions on the cell phone protection are a bit concerning.
What’s concerning about the terms and conditions? You left us on a bit of a cliffhanger there.

The guide to benefits states it won’t cover cosmetic damages or issues related to charging, which I feel are pretty common for most cell phones.
Following. I recently noticed that the Venture X cell protection is secondary, which I interpret to mean that I’d have to file a claim with my renters insurance first. Wondering if anyone has dealt with that issue with the Venture X specifically or with credit card cellphone coverage in general.

Renters insurance?
To each their own, but I gladly pay the $14 a month for Apple Care even though I probably have five cards that offer cell phone coverage. You’ll deal with a third party, and the process takes more time than Apple Care. If you have a high-end phone, most plans only cover $800. Sometimes paying for simplicity is worth it. That being said, if I were to choose, I’d go with an Amex card since they use AIG.
Venture X is alright, but the fine print is kind of sketchy. It caps coverage at $800 and doesn’t cover cosmetic damage. If you want something better, check out Chase Sapphire Reserve. It covers up to $1,000 per claim and even includes theft and accidental damage with a $50 deductible. Costs more, but might be worth it if you’re looking for solid protection.
@Lexi
I don’t believe the Chase Sapphire Reserve offers cell phone protection? I think you’re referring to purchase protection, or maybe you mean the Chase Freedom Flex?
Look into the Bilt card.
