Is the Bilt Card Worth Keeping Anymore

I was unsure about applying for the Bilt card because I kept hearing about fraud issues, but the rent rewards caught my attention. Like the title suggests, my card got charged fraudulently today for 500 dollars, split between Zara and Sephora. Luckily, Bilt caught the Sephora charge quickly and sent me a text, which let me block it. It seems like the rumors about this card might be true. At least their customer service number worked fine, and I was able to talk to a real person when I called. I’m just really disappointed with Wells Fargo and Bilt. I’ve only had the card for about four months, and this is surprising to me since every other card I own has been fine. I’m positive this is fraud; I’m the only one using this card, and I only use it through Apple Pay and for rent points.

I’ll keep you all posted on how the fraudulent charges and the card replacement goes if anyone is interested.

I think my Bilt card has been hit multiple times, but they always resolve it for me, so I don’t mind as much in the end.

They really should step up their security though.

That’s good to hear. It makes me more willing to keep the card.

This is unfortunate but for many, having Bilt is basically free money each month. If they handle fraud well, that benefit can outweigh the hassle.

That’s a fair point. I want to keep saving money when I pay rent, but I also don’t want to feel stressed over my statement every few days.

@Neely
I get alerts from the Wells Fargo app and via email, so I know right away if an unexpected charge comes through.

I also check my recent transactions every few days just to stay updated. It’s not really hard to do.

@Neely
I don’t use Bilt, but I set up text alerts for any charges over a penny on all my cards. It gives me peace of mind since those alerts are mostly in real time.

@Neely
Don’t you have alerts on your phone for every transaction?

@Neely
Just do a checkup once a month or every few months. You should be doing it anyway to make sure there aren’t any unknown charges.

I’ve had the Bilt card for a year and haven’t experienced any of the fraud problems others talk about.

Same here.

I was hesitant to apply because of what I read, but now I am six months in and have had no issues.

Bilt has had its issues with fraud, but every time I hear about it, Wells Fargo resolves it. It can be a hassle, but it’s still worth it for the benefits.

Why does Bilt get targeted for fraud so much?

There are BIN attacks, which is widely discussed in this forum.

And then there’s my US Bank card. It has been blocked since I tried to make a 900 dollar transaction. I’ve called multiple times, and they say they’ve removed the block, but it still doesn’t work.

I hope they fix that soon.

Sorry to hear that, I’ve had my issues solved in under a minute when contacting US Bank, so I hope service isn’t getting worse.

I use it for small Amazon or Steam purchases.

That’s why I keep my Bilt card locked in the Wells Fargo app until I need to use it. It’s annoying, but it’s easier to manage my bills that way.
