As an actor who will need to fly frequently, I’m considering credit cards that are beneficial for transferring Delta points. After some research, the AMEX Green card seems a good fit, and I’m pre-approved for it. I would appreciate recommendations from anyone familiar with this card or if I’m making the right choice.
Forget about the Gold or Platinum cards; the AMEX Green is the ultimate travel card. You can book with any airline or hotel directly without dealing with travel portals. If you’re flying a lot, the ability to use CLEAR at most US airports makes the annual fee much easier to justify. You earn 3x on all travel-related expenses, including dining. Plus, it provides travel insurance for delays and lost baggage. You can also transfer your MR points to SkyMiles. Just be aware that acceptance outside the US can be challenging.

Totally agree! Although I’ve experienced some acceptance issues in Europe, it’s generally improved significantly.

In Europe, acceptance can vary greatly depending on the country; it’s true that larger cities might accept it better than rural areas.

Using CLEAR can be a decent perk, but sometimes it’s not faster than regular PreCheck. If you travel to certain airports regularly, it can save you time.
@Bryce
Thanks for this insight!
AMEX Green is decent for those who travel often domestically. Still, if you frequently fly Delta, you might do better with a Delta-specific card for more benefits like free checked bags or lounge access.
@Nicol
I primarily fly Delta and want to accumulate flight points, which is why I’m considering AMEX.
In my opinion, while the Green card is good, you might get more value with the Wells Fargo Autograph card for travel. Its earnings structure and perks could be more beneficial depending on your needs.
I chose the Green card since I wanted to avoid locking myself out of a sign-up bonus. Don’t forget that higher sign-up bonuses can be rare!

What is a ‘SUB’?

SUB stands for Sign-Up Bonus, the extra points you get for meeting a minimum spending requirement after signing up.
I recently switched from Gold to Green. The Green card offers better multipliers and benefits without the hassle of chasing credits like on Gold.
The $150 annual fee is a downside, but the AMEX Green is still a solid travel card with good protections.
Should I proceed with a hard inquiry to get the card, even with my current high credit utilization?
Unless you strongly value CLEAR’s benefits, the Green may not justify its annual fee compared to other options. Look into cards that offer TSA PreCheck or other travel benefits.
