Is it worth getting the Chase Freedom Unlimited card?

Hey friends, I’ve been thinking about getting the Chase Freedom Unlimited card. Right now, I’ve only got the Capital One Savor One, which I’ve been happy with for about four months. My credit score’s in the mid-700s because I always pay my bills on time and in full.

I recently got a pre-selection offer for the Chase Freedom Unlimited, which is actually the next card I was eyeing to add to my wallet. The introductory cash back offer looks pretty enticing, especially with the rewards on the first $20,000 spent in the first year, and it still offers good cash back after that.

I’m wondering if I should go ahead and apply for this card now, or if I should wait a bit longer until I’ve had my first card for at least six months. Does being pre-selected improve my chances of approval? I’m concerned about a potential denial and the impact of a hard inquiry without any reward.

Also, I’m thinking about building a relationship with Chase so I can aim for higher-tier cards like the CSR in the future.

Any thoughts on whether I should go for the Chase Freedom Unlimited, or any other card recommendations with better rewards? Appreciate your input.

Chase offered you the card after just 4 months of credit history? That’s impressive. If you can spend $20,000, definitely go for it. Otherwise, consider the standard offer where you spend $500 and get $200 back. Either way, I think you should go ahead with it.

@Unclewaffl3s Congratulations on receiving the Chase Freedom Unlimited pre-selection offer! Here are some ideas:

Timing: You are in a good place because you consistently make your payments on time and have a credit score in the mid-700s. Although it is not a hard and fast rule, waiting until you have held your current card for six months can be beneficial.
Pre-Selection: Although it is not a guarantee, being pre-selected helps increase your chances of being approved. Your credit history suggests that you stand a good chance of being accepted.
Establishing a Bond: If you want to cultivate a relationship with Chase and eventually want to upgrade to a higher-tier card like the CSR, getting the Freedom Unlimited now is a smart decision.

With the initial offer in place, the Chase Freedom Unlimited is an excellent credit card with generous benefits. It is a worthwhile addition to your wallet if it aligns with your spending patterns.

I wish you well as you make your choice!
