I’m curious about the Bilt card, especially since it has no annual fee and offers benefits for renters. I wonder why it’s not more popular among renters in my age group (23-26) in a big city. I’ve read that it might be too good to be true, which makes me think I should consider getting one while I can.
I already have the Amex Platinum, CSR, CFU, and other cards that cover my spending needs, so I’d mainly use the Bilt card for rent and the 5 smallest purchases each month to meet the threshold. Is meeting the 5 purchases per month really the only requirement for this card?
I employ it. I utilise the Bilt feature to mail my apartment a check since they only accept physical checks. In order to expedite the delivery of the cheque, Bilt sends this from San Francisco.
Use it for dining establishments as well to earn 3x points, which can be redeemed for ~6% cashback at Hyatt. The card looks great because it is metal and black.
I’ve had the card since early 2023, and aside from what has already been mentioned, the best benefit I’ve had from it is the ability to transfer 12k BILT points to Emirates during a promotion, which resulted in a boost of 21k Skywards miles.
enabled me to travel the final part of my transcontinental voyage in First Class instead of Business. The card felt valuable at that particular moment, when enjoying champagne and living the good life .
Yes it’s worth it. And probably better to get it earlier rather than later because it’s quite possible they make changes to be more profitable down the line.
Getting points on rent is great, and it’s a good backup card for travel and dining purchases if you’re an optimizer. And I’d argue it’s a perfectly fine single card too for people who don’t want to juggle cards.
Most people either don’t know of it, or just generally don’t think about credit cards enough to consider getting it, let alone being ready to use points for travel.
You earn points on every dollar you spend, including rent. But the real perks come from dining and travel, where you earn double and triple points respectively. Plus, there are special benefits just for renters. It’s a credit card that can actually pay off.
