I’m new to the world of credit cards and I’ve been considering getting a Discover card, but I’m not sure if it’s a good option. I’ve heard mixed reviews and I want to hear from those who have used it firsthand. Here are a few specific things I’m wondering about:
Rewards and Cashback: How good are Discover’s rewards and cashback offers compared to other cards?
Customer Service: Have you had positive or negative experiences with Discover’s customer service?
Acceptance: Is Discover widely accepted compared to Visa and Mastercard?
Any insights or personal experiences you can share would be really helpful in making my decision. Thanks in advance…
For those people who want to receive cash back benefits, i think discover credit cards can be a smart choice. Up to the quarterly maximum when you activate, Discover it Cash Back allows you to earn 5% cash back on regular purchases at various locations you frequent, such as supermarkets, eateries, and petrol stations.
I had a terrible experience with this company that changed my life. I’m in my early 70s and always took pride in my excellent credit. I signed up because they offered 0% interest on balance transfers for 18 months. So, I transferred my balance to their card and paid it off before the 18 months were up. Then, one day I bought something for $70 and never received a bill, probably around Christmas. In May, I called them with a question and found out I had an outstanding balance. I asked why I hadn’t received a bill and they couldn’t explain. I apologized and paid them right away.
But then I noticed they had made a hard inquiry on my credit report and started charging me interest. They reported this to TransUnion. I disputed it immediately, but they didn’t do anything. After all these years of having excellent credit, one mistake by their billing department ruined it. Discover is much better to deal with. Thanks to them and many others for showing me what this company is really like.
