This user in my server who is notoriously stupid recently moved from Florida out of the country to Spain to live with their long distance partner, was really confused because last I heard they had like maybe 60 cents to their name and no job but they explained they did it all by opening a PayPal card and using it up right before leaving, quoting their message:
" It’s kind of really funny, PayPal was stupid enough to give me a 2000 dollar credit line and that’s how I paid for all the expenses of moving here, and also for [partner’s name] to stay with me in Florida so my mom could meet her."
And like Credit score just isn’t a thing in the EU, and also PayPal just legally isn’t allowed to even HAVE a credit system here in the EU, so like I don’t even have to pay it LOL.
Can someone explain to me and them how this will probably have consequences? Don’t live in the EU so I don’t know how it works there but I assume this isn’t something that you can do scot-free.
Must be super young. $2000?? People have rent that costs that. He was able to provide plane tix, move to another country, and court a girl on that? Life is going to look a lot like his credit score sooner than later.
There are treaties between countries that allow creditors to enforce debts across borders, and if the debt grows large enough, PayPal could potentially take legal action to recover the money, though it’s not common for smaller amounts. Still, it’s a risk you shouldn’t ignore.
Loads of people default on their payments and it takes banks a lot of effort to pursue the customers. That is why they sell the loans for pennies on a dollar to collection agencies.
It’s already difficult to collect money from people staying in the United States. Imagine how tough it would be to collect from someone in a different country.
Unless you have siphoned off hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars, banks will just write them off as bad debts.
Hahahaha this guy, yoo if you want to do research on fraud just say so.
What you’re thinking of doing is fraud and credit card companies can sue you for it. NAL but I think if you get a default judgment they’ll eventually freeze your account or take it from your taxes or your estate when you die. Or from your paycheck or the like.
