I have never had an issue with a card dispute from any other bank the handful of times I have had to use it. But Apple Card is terrible with a dispute denied once and open for 6 months. And as a result, I will never use their card apart from Apple Pay at the Apple Store.
funny i just posted about data points for disputes efficiency and after being downvoted to hell the main commenter decide to shit on me by insinuating that inquiries around dispute efficiency is for scam artists alone. Sounds like I know where that idiot-bot finds employment lmfao.
It’s nice to see some accountability on this because since fintech started propagating customer service has really backslidden into 3rd world territory.
@Dell
I must have been scrolling Latest because I saw the comment to your post and remember thinking “why would someone accuse someone else of fraud for such a legitimate question when cc fraud is so prevalent”.
@Crosby
Thank you man, that’s nice to hear lol I don’t always like to post here anymore because I get a lot of commenters like this on most of my posts throughout many of my alts, which is not only offensive to deal with, but it invariably destroys my upvote ratio and never gets seen by the knowledgeable users I’m trying to reach as a result.
IDK what’s up but it’s my least favorite sub to post on as a result now and it’s a shame because this sub has some of the best sources of info on a very mystifying aspect of adulthood.
Sometimes I wonder if it’s beyond just randomness and has something to do with post manipulation and exposure.
@Dell
I’m sorry to hear about your bad experiences on this sub. For what it’s worth, I didn’t think the “scam artist” insinuation was appropriate, and I’ve removed the comment for violating Rule 1, Be respectful.
I think the unfortunate reality is that, in most subs, there are “popular” takes that let posters farm karma, and “unpopular” takes that the community dogpiles on. It’s easier to predict in some subs - for example, there are various political subs where it’s easy to tell in advance what reaction a take’s gonna get. On this sub, it’s less simple to figure out what the “unpopular” takes are. Even as the top mod, I still can’t really make heads or tails of why some of the “unpopular” takes on here are unpopular.
I hope you’ll keep contributing to the sub. Don’t hesitate to report personal attacks/name-calling/etc. to the mod staff. If you are concerned about downvotes, you can protect your karma by deleting comments/posts that prove to be controversial.
@Fynn
This was a very unexpected comment to read. I don’t think I’ve ever seen something like it personally in the many redditing years I’ve experienced. Being assured that there is still a human being behind moderation for a sub like this, and as #1 in fact, I will be sure to consider participating with more confidence that it is welcome. Thank you for your consideration to me, and your advice.
I closed an Apple Card because of this. I had a clearly fraudulent charge (from Avianca, when I’d only ever used the card for Apple promotional financing) and it took two days, a couple of chats, and three phone calls to get in contact with someone at GS who could actually start a fraud claim, only to be asked “well, have you tried calling Avianca?”
The fraud claim was eventually resolved in my favor, but it was night and day compared to Amex, Wells, Chase, and even Citi, all of which have taken under 15 mins to submit a fraud claim on my behalf when I encountered fraud on their cards.
@Tully
Don’t blame you for closing it after that. The times I’ve had charges like that, Amex notified me before I could even notice. It was inconvenient but not even close to an ordeal.
@Tully
I work for GS, and have a GS Amex Platinum card. I’m really sorry for your experiences, but did you try calling Avianca? If that doesn’t work, call Mastercard. /s

It is the bank’s responsibility to screen and submit cardholder disputes, not Mastercard’s.

I pushed on the call and they ended up submitting a dispute, so it worked out. I was just stunned by the response because I’ve never had any other bank or card issuer not immediately jump to start the process of reversing a fraudulent transaction themselves.
Good, they are so bad with disputes. I spent months fighting an obvious double charge; Apple/GS never resolved it despite a mountain of evidence, it took nearly taking the merchant to court to get it fixed. Despite all the fighting with GS, the merchant backed down and fixed it. Hell, Apple/GS support told me to submit wrong documents, that had nothing to do with the dispute because they couldn’t even figure out their own document upload system. It was a comedy of errors. I posted a longer comment with details in my profile. I actually left the Apple Card as my daily driver because they are so bad.
I reported Apple Card to CFPB due to handling of multiple disputes over the few years that I had it. After the report submission, they closed my Apple Card account in retaliation. I even have a $200 credit from a dispute that ended up being resolved in my favor on the closed account, but they won’t let me transfer to my bank account.
@Diamonds
They should send you a check, but they can take their sweet time doing so. I’m waiting for an overpayment refund on a loan refi right now, and their policy is “45-60 business days”… Apparently legal as long as they follow their stated policy.
I have been on the phone with the dispute department for 9 hours today trying to get mine resolved. Complained about a fraud charge on October 11th and nothing happened… fast forward to today I have over 50 fraud charges and they’re telling me “it may take some time to see since there are so many.” And then I was asked why I didn’t call earlier… I have called every day for 11 days.
