Chase Ritz Carlton $300 Annual Travel Credit Uses

What are some travel credit uses that Chase has granted folks with the Chase Ritz Carlton $300 travel credit other than what’s listed on their official website (airline lounge day pass, or towards a yearly lounge membership of your choice; airline seat upgrades; airline baggage fees; in-flight Internet/entertainment; in-flight meals)?

Would buying airline miles count? What about small airplane ticket purchases? And any approvals for car rentals?

I always fly out of United, so I put it towards my United Mileage Bank.

Some people confirmed you can use it to buy Alaska Airline Lounge annual membership as it triggers as incidental charges. Then status match it with American Airlines Admiral lounge. So two lounges.

@Mason
I am considering PCing in December to use the credit for United Travel Bank. How do you usually go about getting the credit? Do you break up the $300, space them out, etc.? Do you secure message or call? Ever had it denied and then HUCA and it worked?

@Zed
I did one $300 purchase and called in for the credit. No issues so far.

Did they ask what you bought or did you have to tell them anything?

Nope.

@Zed
Are you PCing in December for a potential double dip if you ever want to cancel the card?

The airline incidental credit is supposedly calendar-based and resets at the new year.

@Zed
Sorry, I meant triple dip, not double. If it’s calendar year, wouldn’t we be able to triple dip by PCing in December, $300 incidental in December, and another $300 in January and then another $300 in next January and cancel within 31 days of AF to get a refund?

But lounge+ gives Admirals and United Club access.

Anything that isn’t officially counted is a gamble. Each individual use requires approval from a Chase representative, so it’s completely luck of the draw if they’ll agree or not. You may need to keep going until you find someone.

The Frequent Miler blog maintains a log of user-provided things that worked.

Search FlyerTalk. They have a dedicated thread for this.

It’s so easy to use it legitimately for MCE, C+, or cheap first upgrades that I haven’t needed to try anything outside the lines.

To your direct question, buying air miles doesn’t code as a travel purchase, so it’s unlikely that would work.

Extra legroom mostly. I’m 6’3” so I’m almost always looking to upgrade at least to that.

I fly Southwest, so I’ll take my Wanna Get Away fare and purchase a $300+ upgrade to Business Select. Once I’ve asked for the credit and it’s posted to my account, the fare is completely refundable, so I just refund myself back to Wanna Get Away.

For what it’s worth, there are DP’s out there that if you make up a good enough reason for why there’s a charge from an airline that has hit your account, you can get credited. If you secure message, you don’t have to talk to anyone.
