CFF - What's the deal with this Q4 combo of categories?

Hey everyone, can someone explain the thought process behind this Q4 combo on my CFF (Chase Freedom Flex)?

  • McDonald’s ???
  • PayPal
  • Pet shops and vet services
  • Select charities

Like, seriously… how do these go together? It feels so random! Why is McDonald’s the only restaurant included? Why not add other fast food or dining places? Is there a strategy behind this mix, or are they just throwing in random categories to see what sticks? Would love some insight or thoughts if anyone knows how Chase comes up with these!"

What do you think of this combo? Anyone else find it strange?

Back in the day, getting 1500 double cheeseburgers to max out a 5x category would’ve been awesome. But now, McDonald’s doesn’t even taste like real food anymore.

We got no warehouse/wholesale category this year…

The other 3 don’t matter much. I spend way more than $1500 on shopping during that quarter because of Black Friday and Christmas, and I can use PayPal for most of it.

never got category cards

Haha, no, my internet service hasn’t been affected by any hurricanes! /s

People would be busting out the pitchforks if PayPal wasn’t included in this! My only regret is not having a second Flex card to take full advantage, instead of being stuck with the $1500 cap.
