Can you convert the cashback to points from Savor to VX? If so, what’s the strategy and methodology?

1¢ is one mile (1 cpp). It’s been a little squirrelly on the app lately, but my understanding is it’s working fine through the browser.
I’d hold CB as cash until needed as miles. Converting miles to cash is at 0.5 cpp.

This is a great comment. Very high signal-to-noise ratio.
I switched from AMEX to the Capital One Duo. Not having to chase coupon credits and the overall simplicity of the Duo is very underrated. My only complaint is not having a 3% gas card. Wish they would add a third card with gas/EV/parking/etc or a rotating category if they are allowed to add Discover.
But only having to carry a maximum of 4 cards in my wallet is nice: Venture X, Savor, Bank ATM, and driver’s license is nice in a slim wallet.
@Lilly
I agree - Not having EV/Gas/Transit is painful. Although, I think - Active Cash and Autograph from Wells Fargo are the most complete set of cards covering all the bases.

Citi Custom Cash is your solution for gas.

Not if you are on team points. I live in the Capital One ecosystem and put all my business expenses on my Venture/Savor so I can fly anywhere in the world. Would be nice if I had a gas card I could convert to travel miles/points.
My personal philosophy is spending 20% of the effort to get 80% of the benefit always. The Capital One Duo system plays well to this idea. Cash back on Savor is consistent, easy to utilize. Also, 0 AF and 0 foreign transaction on a VISA makes it useful for international trips especially when spending on food, tickets, events, etc. The VX is also very straightforward, 2% catch-all means you’re always getting value without checking rotating quarterly categories.
Do you care about Hyatt? If so, Chase Trifecta. Otherwise you’re fine with either setup.
Chase would only be good if you are doing a lot of eating out. They only have 3% back on restaurants and drug stores. Nothing for grocery.
Tough to say.
Personally, I think Citi is technically the best if you don’t care for lounges. Their customer service is pretty bad tho.
Of these 2 options, I think C1 is better. You’ll have to decide on Venture vs VentureX.

How’s Citi better than C1?

You’d get 5x on groceries
And 3x on a few additional categories. Yes you miss out on streaming/entertainment, but that’s usually a fairly low spend area most months.

If I had to guess based on a quick google:
- Citi Strata Premier: 10x on hotels (portal), 3x on travel, 3x on dining, 3x on groceries, and 3x on gas.
- Citi Double Cash: Catchall 2%.
- Citi Custom: 5% on highest spend. Pick groceries, dining, or gas and only use it for that category.
- Citi Rewards+: 10% back on the first 100,000 points you redeem or transfer per year.
Citi Strata Premier doesn’t include priority pass or issuer branded lounges. Priority pass lounges are okay, but the free food and drinks is a nice way to save money while waiting for a flight.
You can’t use this setup for Costco unless you purchase shop cards online. It’s not hard, but it is an extra step.
The Citi portal doesn’t price match while Capital One and Amex do.

What kind of airlines does Citi points get you? Is their travel portal good? Are the points 1:1 transferable to airlines?

Citi points transfer to AeroMexico, Avianca Lifemiles, Cathay Pacific, Emirates, Etihad, EVA Air, Flying Blue (AF/KLM), JetBlue, Qantas, Qatar, Singapore, Thai, Turkish, and Virgin Atlantic.
All are 1:1.

I don’t know if the portal is good as I don’t have their cards (VX + Gold). I’d assume it’d be of similar functionality as the other major issuers.
I would look at their transfer partners and determine if you could regularly use Chase’s travel partners. If so their travel partners are generally higher value than C1.
C1 will probably net you more overall points so if you like their partners or just don’t want to bother with partners I’d use them.
Also, if it’s a tiebreaker I’ve used the C1 portal a few times with good experiences, so if you use travel portals I’d lean C1.
