Best Credit Cards for College Students?

Hey folks,

I’m a college freshman looking to get my first credit card to start building credit responsibly. I’ve been researching online, but there are so many options out there. I’m not sure which one would be best for someone in my situation. Here are a few things I’m looking for:

  1. Low Fees: Preferably no annual fees or low introductory fees.
  2. Rewards or Cashback: It would be great to earn rewards or cashback on everyday purchases.
  3. Good for Beginners: Since this is my first credit card, I want something that’s easy to manage and understand.
  4. Customer Service: A company with good customer service would be a big plus.

Any recommendations or personal experiences with specific cards? Thanks in advance…

For college students, the Capital One SavorOne card stands out with no annual fee and no foreign transaction fees. It offers 3x rewards on dining, groceries (excluding Walmart® and Target®), entertainment, and streaming. Pairing it with the C1 VentureX in the future allows cash back to be converted into airline miles for travel benefits.

For the vast majority of college students, the Capital One SavorOne students card is an excellent choice. It’s a Mastercard that has no foreign transaction fees and no yearly charge.

I tried to apply for the C1 SavorOne, but it said I couldn’t since I wasn’t enrolled in college. Is there a way to change that? Is it possible for me to enter a date of graduation at random?
