I’m starting a new job in Ohio where I’ll have to drive 100 miles on the highway every day. I’m trying to find the best credit card to use at the pump and I’m curious what you all think.
Citi Custom Cash can get you 5% on up to $500 of gas station purchases per month.

No Costco though.

Yeah… Even if it was a Visa, it’s questionable whether it would code as gas vs wholesale club.
@irmah
The gas stations code as gas, not wholesale club.

That’s good to know, I just use Citi Visa so I don’t really have to think about it. I’ve heard different experiences for things like Walmart gas and other stores that also sell gas. Thanks for the info.
How much do you expect to spend on gas in a month?
AAA Travel Advantage Visa Signature Credit Card is a great option.

Wish they allowed you to keep both that and AAA Daily Advantage.

I use Daily Advantage for gas anyway. 3% is still good and Walmart still gives me 5% at self checkout. It’s the best.
@Florian
Doesn’t Travel Advantage give 3% cashback in its grocery category?
If you will be under $500, use Citi CC. If you will exceed $500, put the first $500 on Citi CC and the rest on a 3% cash back card. There are plenty out there. Anything short of 3% cash back is not worth it.
@Nye
What 3% cash back are you talking about?
I have SavorOne, Amex BCP, and AAA Cashback Visa as options for 3% cash back on gas.

SavorOne does not earn 3% on gas.
@Juno
Oops, my bad. You’re right. I just listed my everyday cards in my wallet. My BCP is my primary card for gas and groceries while SavorOne is my dining and Uber card.

Just wanted to make sure people have an accurate list in mind. BCP is a good grocery and gas card. The 6k cap is annoying. Wells Fargo Autograph is great for uncapped 3% on gas.
@Juno
I second that. Absolutely. I also just remembered my Venmo Visa for the 3-2-1 categories. But I mainly use it at Target and Sam’s for the 3% highest category and nothing else.

Oh cool.
