Just a data point - received a 25k retention offer for $2,000 in spend in the next 3 months for the AMEX Gold.

2 years, going on 3. The fee hit this morning and I contacted AMEX this afternoon. Got transferred to the department and they made the offer after explaining all of the benefits I get by holding the card.

Another datapoint:

Tried it the other day and received a 15k offer for $2,000 spend.

I should note that my account is past 30 days since I paid the annual fee, and so I wouldn’t be getting an annual fee refund, nor is a PC available for AMEX Gold afaik. This may factor into why the incentive is lower.

Received 40k MR for $3k in 3 months about 2 months ago. Have had the card since Nov 2022.
