Dammit I was considering the Barclays AA card, but if it’s gonna become Citi, then no thanks . I guess I’m never gonna get an American Airlines credit card.
Won’t happen for another year; get it now, cancel when it goes to Citi if you really don’t want it.
@Paden
Yeah, that sounds like a plan. The only downside is that AA miles expire without a credit card, but the grace period is two years, so that should be fine. It would be nicer if AA miles didn’t expire at all .
@Leander
I just got the MileUp card, so my points won’t expire. I only use it when I book a flight with AA; otherwise, I keep it locked and don’t really look at it except to debate canceling or converting.
This likely means Citi cards (like the Strata Premier) will soon have AA as a transfer partner. Citi is really killing it and is going to put Chase in its place very soon. Already, they have just beaten Chase with the Preferred Hotels partnership, which is the first thing that is ever better than the Chase-Hyatt partnership.
