10% on Uber/UberEats ends today. (Capital One Savor One)

This is just a reminder that the 10% cash back on Uber/Uber Eats ends with the Capital One Savor One card. This was the only reason I used this card heavily, and I’m so sad to see it go! To the sock drawer, the card goes!

Man, the hate for the Savor is real today. The Uber/UberEats promo was awesome, no doubt, but it’s still a no AF unlimited 3% grocery, dining, streaming, and entertainment card with no FTFs. I know many people here have better/higher rewards options in their lineup, but a lot don’t as well, especially those just getting started. It’s a very solid card even without a promo for an overpriced delivery service.

@FaithJones
I’m with you. I like knowing I can use it at a bar or restaurant and I’m probably getting 3x. Even if I’m out of the country.

Or events where you’re unsure if the place will code as dining or entertainment. With Savor, it doesn’t matter.

@Nolan
Same with bakeries and ice cream shops. Will it code as restaurant or grocery? Doesn’t matter. Cap One’s coding is broad and reliable, similar to Chase.

@FaithJones
Yeah, no idea why the card is getting so much hate. 3% on dining and groceries is great. I know people can get 5% with optimization, but most folk do not want to do that. Pairing it with the Venture X makes it an even better deal considering there’s no AF.

@Quinn
It really is a decent card. Still gonna miss the Uber benefits though.

Many cards do the same. Everyone thought Capital One was going to enhance it, but it seems they’re returning to subprime.

@Sorrell
They do. But it’s a nice secondary card for categories where I don’t have 5% categories for the quarter.

@FaithJones
Right?! I rarely used Uber and probably ordered Uber Eats twice a month. But, 3x dining and groceries in any country + no FTF made it one of my favorites. Sad seeing it get so much hate!

@FaithJones
Honestly, for $0 you can’t ask for much more as long as it’s paired with a Venture that earns points. I use it a lot overseas since convenience stores and kiosks code as groceries.

@FaithJones
Definitely no hate on this card! I enjoyed that benefit for two years. The 10% is what made me tolerate this card for as long as I have. I have other cards that give greater benefits in other categories, so it will go in the sock drawer. I’m grateful since Capital One was my first couple of cards after establishing good credit!

On my account (and others I saw online), I canceled my UberOne and was offered 90% off for 3 months. It’s going to bill me $3 at the end of my current UberOne membership.

I took them up on that offer. $3 to extend those benefits is worth it, considering all the Ubering I’ll be doing in the upcoming 2 months.

I also got the 90% off for 3 months deal too. In my eyes, it’s much better than the earlier deal of just one extra free month.

3 months? I only received a 1-month offer :unamused:.

Did the UberOne credit end today too or did that already end?

How would they realistically sustain 10% back on Uber Eats long term?

By Uber subsidizing some of that 10%. They don’t have a dedicated credit card. If they kept the partnership, they’d essentially be paying a commission to attract users, banking on them choosing them over Lyft or DoorDash. It becomes more feasible if the merger with Discover goes through, allowing them to reduce transaction fees.

PayPal has featured 10% cashback offers for DoorDash, Uber Eats, Uber rides, and more. You also get an extra 5% cashback if you pay with a PayPal debit card with food as your 5% monthly category.

RIP one of the best credit card benefits I’ve ever had. I’ll still use this card as my dining/grocery card while I transition to cash back, so I guess the plan worked on me!
